Do you suffer from plantar fasciitis, chronic tendonitis, or plantar fibromas?
Rest, cortisone injections, medication, orthotics, and even ceasing physical activity altogether have been the traditional treatment approaches. While they bring pain relief, it tends to only be temporary.
And, do you really want to stop doing your favorite physical activity?
For those willing to undergo an invasive surgery, it has been a solution as well. While the results tend to be more effective and longer-lasting, they are not guaranteed. Surgery also involves pain and recovery times of 4-6 weeks or more.
Mayo Clinic physicians helped develop Tenex. But, what is it?
Tenex uses ultrasonic energy (like an ultrasound) to locate and remove damaged tissue only, without affecting any healthy tissue. It only takes 15-20 minutes, and it does not require referral from your primary physician.
It also does not cause any pain. Some patients feel a slight pressure in the area following the procedure, but most don’t notice anything.
Prior to the procedure, you get MRI or ultrasound imaging tests done to reveal the location and extent of damaged tissue. Once that’s done, you get a local anesthetic.
Then your surgeon makes a tiny 3 millimeter incision so they can insert a small probe that helps them locate damaged tissue. This probe focuses energy to the affected areas, which then have their tissue removed. An inflow/outflow fluid system takes the damaged tissue out of your body. However, healthy tissue remains unaffected.
You will likely only need a small bandage to cover the incision. In just a small portion of cases, patients may need a splint to help with healing.
Recovery is always much faster (with no pain) than traditional surgical procedures for plantar fasciitis, chronic tendonitis, and plantar fibromas.
You’ll have to rest the affected area for several days. You may need crutches or a walking boot. But you should be able to return to your regular routine in 7-10 days.
The fast recovery time is the biggest benefit of Tenex.
